New Google Maps Features

Google has the in-house mapping service Google Maps donated an update. Still in the beta versions of existing, new functions are accessible using the "New" button in the upper right of the home page of maps call. New features include these features:

Drag and zoom
Now it is possible to draw a rectangle on the map. The selected section will be enlarged.

Aerial photographs
In addition to maps, terrain and satellite views and now an aerial view of the map is available. Advance but only at selected locations, such as the San Diego-Cornado Bridge .

Game "Where in the World"
The first game on Google Earth! The aim is to recognize, belongs to which piece of land together with the map section shown marking. Not always easy, but fun. My trick is simple, rauszuzoomen far. Thus the country and continental borders are easier to see.
The next game I would find a "Where is what?" Beat your Host alá nice.

Intelligent Zoom
Furthermore, is now the annoying message "In this size images before us is not a" thing of the past. The intelligent zoom enlarges only to the extent it is possible for the state of the recordings.

So you get a Command & Conquer Tiberian Twilight Open Beta Key!

Update 2010-01-31: Now is the use of the entry form on the C & C site possible. You do not trick so :)

Command & Conquer 4 - Tiberian Twilight Open Beta started

You want to gamble already the next Command & Conquer? No problem, because now is the participation in the Open Beta possible. For a key you need to do is here to fill in the form and take the key counter. At present, however, only be given keys. The client will be able to suck later. But that you're here, you should ensure you have a key now! Since the game is released only after 16 years, is filling out the entry form only, unfortunately, from 22 clock (clock to 6) are possible. So be it, I'm already big!

I will definitely participate in the beta. Tiberian Twilight will probably be the last part of the saga. So I let myself miss out on the course Endkrieg over Tiberium. :)

Office 2010 available for download!

The zealous Microsoft Nerd is the message have noticed long ago: Microsoft Office 2010 beta can be tested at once. And not only on MSDN or TechNet subscribers, but by everyone! Everything you need for this, is a Microsoft ID. This can easily create one for free.

Microsoft Word 2010

A distinction is made under the following versions:

Office 2010 requires 1.5 GB of hard disk space, Windows XP SP3, 256 MB RAM and a 500 Mhz processor. The latter should be standard as good as any user.

If you want to test the new office, then simply follow the links to the versions above. For home users, extends the "Home and Business" version is more than enough.

In the run-Microsoft has drawn attention to the following (very good!) Made short film about Office 2010:

Interesting is also the planned Web version of Office . This is for everyone to be free and available for fast enough stories fully. Here again a live account from Microsoft is needed. The documents are then stored online. In principle, the whole story works so much like Google Docs.

Firefox 3.6 (beta) and ready for download

Today is the beta of the new Firefox 6.3 was completed and ready for download have been made. The new version of the Mozilla forge comes up with an updated Gecko engine on, an improved translation of HTML code and supports, at least to some extent Windows 7 features. So it is now possible to preview images of the tabs on display in the Superbar. Whether the Jump Lists are now supported, I do not know. Who wants to test the 3.6er version itself, which can be the beta of the Mozilla servers overloaded.

Fancy Star Wars: The Old Republic?

As I just read I started, for the Lucas Arts and Bioware developed MMO Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, the closed beta. Anyone who wants to romp with light swords and other games with the power should be immediately at the site for the test phase register, the courts are in fact limited. Earlier beta applicants will be preferred by the manufacturer. How many seats are available in total is not known. So sign up quickly!

How popular is the game, you can tell by the huge influx: Within a few hours, went down the site. From now the site is no longer available and you will be redirected to a service message. "Over the next few hours" should be available to authenticate again. I am curious and will try in the beta purely zurutschen :)

Install DirectX 11 on Windows Vista

With the release of Windows 7 has the new graphics interface, DirectX 11 entry. Not only buyers of Windows 7 will come to benefit from new graphic splendors. No, Windows Vista users have the option of installing the new DirectX in order to gamble, the latest game in the best graphics can (assuming a corresponding hardware equipment of course).

The final release of DirectX 11 is long since completed, but Microsoft will only provide to the Service Pack 3, Windows Vista, the inclusion of DirectX 11. For the time being is to upgrade the hardware interface in Windows 7 to be ready. Only later should then come as-told-the update for Vista. But the wait does not have to.

Microsoft now has a first beta version of DX11 for Windows Vista released. These are the beta update servers and are thus not as easily accessible to normal users. But Tom's Hardware has now developed a guide how to get the update anyway.

Also not a lot of manual work is needed. TomHardware shall equal or provides a tool that changes 2 registry entries automatically. This is necessary so that Windows can access the update server. Now just let Windows check for updates once and wait. The rest happens by itself.

All other images as well as in the tool also finds her Toms Hardware .

PS: It seems (at least we read in the comments to the article at TH), this trick works only with the English version of Windows Vista. Too bad, then stay the German users well in the rain ...
