No traffic lights, my engine stays on!

IBM has a new technology developed in order to reduce fuel consumption and consequently the Schadstoffaustoß. In summary, purely and simply send a short radio pulse from the traffic lights at the front of waiting cars, the cars would have an incentive off the engine. Just before the light turns green, is "the car then has the permission" to turn the engine. After a short delay, then the cars will be launched in the queue, if the first is used, the others may still not finally depart. Accordingly, traded in the red phase.

I personally am not excited about it. Save fuel or not, I will have control over my vehicle. I do not want my engine is switched easily without my consent or off. And what is even in an emergency? Let's imagine that there would be an ambulance. What then? Admittedly, using a short pulse of the ambulance, the engine could be turned back on. It's still not a nice feeling that someone else controls my vehicle. The battery will thank me.

About one thing you can be sure: The happy hacker wirds. Simple times paralyze the traffic? No problem, a simple radio pulse is sufficient. Die Hard 4.0, pig's cheek!

Link spin for Saturday

Unfortunately, I think because of my upcoming baccalaureate no time to write profound article. I am currently totally clamped. A big sorry for that. Soon there again fresh print!

As compensation for the parlous state here a few days without articles worth reading links.

Do not miss: Peter Kruse explains the internet

Prof. Dr. Peter Kruse explains in this interview almost "everything", basically what you need to know about the internet. Kruse is a German psychologist and professor at the University of Bremen. He specializes in the development of networks. In this respect, the step to the Internet is not far.

Blocked, filtered, disconnected: the non-free network

New series of electrical reporter:

The days of free Internet surfing may soon be over. Countries like China and Iran already have monitor every click on their citizens and make rules, what pages they should and what not. But in Europe, the freedom of movement on the Web is in danger. In France, meanwhile users are punished with a ban on surfing when they are caught three times in illegal music sharing.
In Germany, should be established by the so-called virtual access law aggravation stop signs in front of child pornographic content. Even if this bill is temporarily shelved: Critics of these arrangements are concerned that it's only a matter of time until others are censored unliebige content such as computer or games of chance. Meanwhile, meet behind closed doors, the leading economic nations on "intellectual property" - are on their agenda and power locks on copyright violations. The battle of the publishers against Google, and my words to

Have you noticed that? There comes a lawsuit but actually on Google because the search giant in the search results link to the online article from newspaper publishers. Well, then there is perhaps a small portion of the article in the search results, but does not contain more words than a tweet. And now to actually tell the publisher that Google with its " [...] difficult to produce quality content [...] earn "money. Now you want for each click on an article that Google is not making money. Say what?

Of course, my papers, a situation can be so great as well describe in less than 200 words. I will also note yet that comes over most of the Google traffic to your site. It would be fatal, is now blaming Google. If it bothers you so that it appears in the index of Google, the search engine blocks but easy. Oh is not so. Then the visitors are gone.

But if all newspaper publishers would actually block the search giant, I spin here is my own future scenario: It seems not a single article in a newspaper for more with Google. What sources remain still as sources? Quite clear: the blogger. Would be quite amusing, right?

Of course it is always easy to point the finger at others. I ask but sometimes simply a matter of developing their own solutions.

ZDF tested body scanners: Absolutely necessary!

In Mark Lance, it's worth, from time to time on. For example, on 13.01.2010, when it comes to body scanners went, which are now preserved at German airports served. In addition to sending the physicist Werner Gruber were the CDU politician Wolfgang Bosbach, and a spokesman for the body scanner manufacturer ThruVision.

Gruber acted in the show as a test person should try out the scanner. He said previously that he has a swiss army knife and a cell phone. Both could be seen in principle to the image of the scanner (the only pocket knife was not as apparent as it was in the side pocket and was carried by the side of a scan). Later, however, revealed the physicist that he had not only the two items in the pockets ...

To surprise of all he got out of his mouth a fuse from his clothes or 3 bottles of thermite (burns at about 3000 ° C. and allowed to melt metal so easy) and a small tube of his shin, which was hidden under a plaster. He also had a lighter in his pocket. If you mix together all the substances that can measure temperatures up to 3000 ° C is reached, resulting in a plane (assuming the correct ignition) to crash.

And despite all of these substances Gruber Nacktscanner smuggle in an airplane. This would probably again clearly demonstrated: These things take absolutely nothing, except to pretend false security. There will be spent millions of Euros for a pseudo-protection, which makes people think they would be safe. So my verdict is therefore the same as that of Werner Gruber: There will always be black sheep. Absolute certainty will never exist. Therefore it would be appropriate that money be better spent for more useful things. For example, education. Then people would in fact see such a pseudo-protection as a piss.

The whole program you can look yourself in the ZDF library again:

Twitter on MTV Real Home

Klaas from MTV Home has to start thinking about a twitter in real life and made his idea implemented directly in the act by its simple status messages once trumpeted on the street:

If you look familiar? I can think of. Finally, Klaas also used some quotes from the original, namely the "Real Life Twitter" experiment by college humor:

On the other hand, however, a funny action :)

In the future, better power politics?

Mark is from the power politics blog from a draft of a Commission of Inquiry. Who does not know what a Study Commission, which must either ask a Frenchman, or simply read on. Under a commission of inquiry is meant simply a working group to look after a highly polarizing issue at present and should develop solutions. In this case involves the issue of power politics. So it's not exactly surprising that the Enquete Commission of the name "Internet and digital society" bears.

Among other things, the Assembly, which consists of 13 members who write on these issues ( quote from web policies , Creative Commons is due!)

Interesting points on each Falldie open access points, network neutrality, OPen data and the relevant points regarding the copyright. More than these sub-themes are unfortunately not yet known. For more information, but tomorrow will see the light of the world.

Whether this is but a turning point in the old power politics now finally, I dare simply times to doubt. The CDU has been unfortunately shown little insight, and the FDP is too shy. I'm still excited.
