The eBook reader and its future

I'm going to buy this year, no e-book reader. There is simply too early and I think the technology is not refined enough. But what can be observed: Lately, the little electronic book replacements often in the headlines and new technologies are developed. For example, now in Japan.
Bridgestone, the self-confessed F1 fan is familiar with the company as a tire supplier to the racing cars, has now developed ePaper that can display 4096 colors, flexible and very fast paging (0.8 seconds) allows. So it will probably soon be possible to complete the reader is flexible. I think this is important because I want to treat the reader like a magazine and pack among other things (just like a magazine). This is only readers with the current very difficult because they are static. In addition, the reader Bridgestone will be about the size of an A4 sheet.
What you should really think about ebooks? In my opinion, it will inevitably run point is that print media disappear from the landscape. In the books (and magazines / newspapers) will be as similar as with the music: The media are distributed gradually over the Internet. A copyright discussion on how the record industry will give us for that matter. This meant that in future it will need no more publishers. The main task of publishers had to print the books. But this is no longer necessary with eBook readers. Just as it is with the record labels: The use of MP3 players and the Internet, it is no longer necessary, the music CD pressed on the shelf to have added ('I find but nice to have the disc on the shelf ). However, this revolution will come.
If this "crisis" is then overcome, the readers are part of everyday life. The United States, they put a yes even in school. What I do not necessarily may mean for good. As I said, those things are not yet mature enough. That will change though.

So ... as long as the ebooks just as expensive (sometimes more expensive) than printed books that come to me out of the question, especially since they (with some exceptions, like the Nook from Barnes & Noble) to borrow even more to give, or, if you they no longer need.
That to me is clearly a question of price. I do not pay ten (or even 20!) € for an ebook when I have the English paperback for five, especially if I can be as easy then not even give still ner girlfriend, so she reads it too.
Please consider would be the ebooks only 2 € I do not care if I can give them, but it looks like right now, I'm not interested.
I continue to use the Internet access via Wi-Fi would be important, so that I could also read my blog without any problems directly so, what else brings me to the reader if I end up anyway all the time but once again sit at the computer?
In addition, I will order my books are not only over the Internet. I want to go into a bookstore, I see the printed book, take it in hand, to me, and then scroll around on the ground may decide to buy the ebook, and in my circle, there are many who see things very similarly. So I think we will still need publishers for a while.
Maybe I'm old fashioned but I prefer the CD or the printed book to the purely digital media, this may change over time, but for now ... oh well.
Hey Sam
The "Better a book in his hand, as the book to have digitally" attitude, I agree entirely clear. I (as well as in the article is) a CD on the shelf rather than a USB stick. It just looks better and somehow you what, what you can in your hand.
But to the matter of the prize: MP3 players, we take the iPod for example, are expensive and many times, as CD's. And yet millions of iPods have been sold. After all, the MP3 player is simply practical: Each time your music collection there. Anhöhren what you want where you want. And I think it will be in the case of eBook readers. You simply complete your collection of books here. And if you need one more thing: Just quickly read on the internet with the part, read sample and then buy with one click. Already the book is on your reader. This is simply practical.
At the moment the price is still very high. That will change, but with security. I see the first parts are already at ALDI. But one thing is certain: For 2 € will never enter it.
To the rental: This is easily possible. Simply connect 2 Reader with Bluetooth, push book over, finished. In the future, namely (similarly as with the MP3 players) have each a reader. That will be no problem, unless the publishers spoil a DRM (as it was in music and the record labels in the case of /) is the fun. In effect, namely the same discussion will reignite on copyright, as with the music.
