50,000 signatures are needed to ensure that the petition is submitted to the Bundestag. That does not mean that everything comes out as required in the petition. Most of the proposals are turned down (unfortunately) easily. Whether that's more than 50k signatures now, does not matter. The main thing that brings together 50,000.
