Jamendo - The platform for free music

So, there is now nothing has come for some time, I must now once again pursue my duty, and write articles. Whenever I throw a little peek over the past period, the final product is already a week old. But around this issue is not in this article. I want to introduce in this scribbling a Web 2.0 Music platform. This is the website that Jamendo is called.

On Jamendo unknown (or known) artists can upload their own music and to provide them with a Creative Commons license. This, it states that other users can download the songs as MP3 files and may even redistribute it. All legal and free!

I discovered the site, as I click the article at Geeklike have become aware. Otti presented there, the band Shearer from which their music is also freely available. Incidentally, the band from Berlin, who chastised their own music as a kick ass rock, represented by a profile on Jamendo. I've downloaded the album, of course, the same as the band makes really good music! If you also want to support the band, you can also make a few loose and donate €.

To download and for playback of music on Jamendo is no registration required. To register but still has the possibility to close virtual friends and "love" albums, and artists. It is a kind of last.fm for free music.

Now a normal-thinking person asks, of course: "Well it is all well and good, but as the platform is funded at all?". The answer is simple: Jamendo is financed by advertising revenue on the site. In the download archives, but fortunately no advertising connected. In addition, a premium service (Jamendo PRO) off the ground, which allows the use to download music asked for commercial purposes. The artists are involved here as 50%.

By and large, Jamendo is a great thing! I am logged in since the weekend and have already found some great albums and artists. It takes a while before you find music that they like, but there are real gems available there. And cost-tuts nothing. It's worth a try, right? ;)

Yep, yep ... a really great thing. I personally think it's good when the magic really brilliant artists make works that in some areas, at your leisure. You should of course be able to live their art, but as many a musician is more like a capitalist than an artist.

  1. This is unfortunately true. For unknown artists, as they are represented at Jamendo, there are more musicians who make music with your heart instead of giving priority to the profit motive.
